Hi and welcome to cooking in NYC! This is a blog devoted to the particular challenges of cooking in New York City (in Manhattan in particular). On this blog, I’ll be posting tips, recipes, experiences, gripes and hopefully a few success stories about cooking and entertaining.
Of course, cooking in Manhattan has its own peculiar challenges: miniscule kitchens (for most of us anyway), very little counter and cabinet space, and not much space to entertain either. Plus, depending on where to shop, you can pay an arm and a leg for basic ingredients.
On the other hand, there are a number of advantages to being in Manhattan, not the least of which is access to most of the ingredients you could possibly want.
Just a word on who I am — I’m a twenty- (almost thirty-) something guy living and working in Manhattan. I like eating more than cooking, but I do like getting friends together for the occasional dinner party. I even organized an Iron Chef competition back in business school.
